To make a short story shorter, there are these three longtime friends Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day) who, for one reason or another despise their bosses played by Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell…all wonderfully and perfectly cast. They despise these bosses SO much that, in a drunken state decide that these bosses should be dead. They go out in search of a hit man MEFFER Jones (Jamie Foxx) who, instead of killing the bosses for them, gives them ideas of how to do it themselves. A comedy of dark and twisted errors ensue.
Horrible Bosses is getting mixed reviews from the critics. Personally, I thought the movie was The Hangover funny. The first one, NOT the second one. I HATED The Hangover 2. Listen, you aren’t going to this movie with the thought that it’s going to be spiritually enlightening or an award winning drama. I’m sure that most people, based on the previews, know that this is nothing more than a goofy, inappropriate comedy aimed to do nothing more than make you laugh. And in these times, funny is needed…desperately.
I laughed. I guffawed. I may have even snorted, but we won’t discuss that because it’s embarrassing. But, despite what some of the more professional critics with a more discerning eye are saying, you’ll get a good, hard-core, side-splitting laugh or two out of this flick.
And that? Makes it all worthwhile.
