Add a little art and culture to the weekend that revolves around football with Eclectic Avenue at the Actors Loft. On the first Saturday of each month, Ravindra Kharmai, producer and host, puts together a variety show of local independent artists. Each show is unique and features an eclectic mix of performance artists, musicians, photographers, painters, sculptors, and the like at The Actors Loft, an acting school and studio on Main Street in Royal Oak.
Bring your own libations and enjoy complimentary eats and refreshments as you mingle with the artists and others who come to appreciate the work. You’ll hear live music performances ranging from spoken word to folk to jazz to punk rock.
Admission is $7 and 50% of this fee is paid out to participating artists that night. Meet and greet the artists, purchase available works and music for your collection, and discover how you can display your own artistic talents at The Actors Loft.
Eclectic Avenue began at The Future Gallery in 2009 by Kharmai, “The Eclectic Avenue show gives emerging artists and musicians a good opportunity for exposure and professional experience, while also providing the local community a chance to experience new, independent art and music.”
Kharmai now collaborates with The Actors Loft providing a platform for emerging artists. The environment is fun, friendly and accessible. This event also supports charitable causes, as a portion of the show’s proceeds will be donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeast Michigan.
This weekend features paintings by Donna Jackson, live performances by The Actors Loft, Acoustic Folk originals from Audra Kubat and Cosmic Groove with Shanita and Frank.
The ACTORS LOFT is located at 919 South Main Street, Suite 104 in Royal Oak, just south of Lincoln Avenue and above B & B Collision. Free parking is available on Main Street and also around the corner on Husdon Ave.
