In anticipation of the 2012 Motown Winter Blast, the Urbane Life will be highlighting some of our favorite local bands that will be taking the stage at this year’s event. Keep checking back to learn more about some of the city’s best.
The Muggs
What better band to start our preview party with than the Muggs? They’re loud, fun, and well known around these parts. In fact, they’ve been one of the premier local rocks bands for almost a decade. So much so, in fact, that an online movement to have them replace Canadian cheese rockers Nickelback as the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day football game halftime show gathered so much momentum we almost thought it was possible. Bassist Tonymuggs answers our Motown Winter Blast questions below:
Q: What’s your favorite thing about winter in Michigan?
A: It gives The Muggs a chance to don our goofy winter sweaters. Dannymuggs wears his Budweiser sweater proudly(no Danny, you can’t drink yer sweater)! Todd Glass sports his reindeer vest all the way & Tonymuggs is all about his vintage red McDonald’s sweater as a lark(eating the sweater is probably more healthy than a Big Mac!)
A: Ahhhh, sweet, sweet Whiskey! It caresses the pallet! What’s that? You want me to drink you?
A: Without a doubt, and the Muggs do not endorse this kids: throwing snowballs at passing cars. This led to Dannymuggs & Tonymuggs hiding in bushes one time too many, as enraged men didn’t like our seemingly harmless pranks. Little did the enraged men know, they were contributing to rock n roll; for in the act of hiding in bushes together, you really get to know someone.
The Muggs will play the Flagstar Bank Stage Friday, February 10th from 7:30 to 9pm at this year’s Motown Winter Blast.
