The snow was a bust so here are 5 things to do this wekened in and around Royal Oak and Ferndale.

Royal Oak Music Theatre:
Events for two very different audiences. Big Gigantic from the electronic music genre plays tonight, February 24. $17 for a night of lights and beats, doors open at 8PM. For a more reserved evening, Cinematic Titanic features movie riffing from the original cast of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 this Saturday, February 25. Drag Queen Bingo:
It’s adult bingo (18+) and makes for a wacky night at Five 15 Cafe in Royal Oak. Described as “part camp, part audience participation and completely comedic.” Tonight make a date with the “queen of mean” Lauren Jacobs and Saturday Trixxie Deluxxe from Orlando will be calling numbers. Fela! The broadway musical:
For those looking to broaden their theatric repertoire, Fela! is this season’s most critically acclaimed musical and is playing in Detroit. The show won 3 2010 Tony Awards for Best Costume Design for a Musical, Best Choreography and Best Sound Design of a Musical. The story is based on the legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, whose musical talents inspired change. The show runs through March 4 at the Detroit Music Hall. http://www.felaonbroadway.com/

Liz-A-Palooza:
To celebrate what would have been Liz Taylor’s 80th birthday the Ringwald theatre in Ferndale is featuring her best known roles and presenting Elizabeth the Beautiful starring 3 people: Joe Bailey as the lovely liz, Mike McGettigan as Richard Burton and Patrick O’Connor Cronin as all the other characters. No typecasting there. Catch it this weekend, Saturday, February 25 at 10:00 PM. Tickets are $10, The Ringwald is located at 22742 Woodward Avenue in Ferndale.

Beer Tour:
This one is not exactly in or around Royal Oak but MOTOR CITY BREW TOURS is providing bus transportation to the Winter Beer Festival in Grand Rapids.
